This highly anticipated update for God of War Ragnarök launches next week, bringing a treasure trove of new cosmetic content to players on PlayStation 5 and PC.
What’s New in the Dark Odyssey Update?
Set to be available on March 20, the Dark Odyssey update is a free addition for all owners of God of War Ragnarök. This update introduces a stylish black-and-gold themed aesthetic that will elevate the appearance of Kratos, Atreus, and Freya as they navigate the treacherous landscapes of Norse mythology.

Unlocking the New Features
One of the standout additions is the Dark Odyssey armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a skin originally awarded to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. Players can claim these new cosmetics from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in God of War Ragnarök’s unique Valhalla mode after the update is live. Additionally, players will finally have the option to customize the appearance of Kratos’ weapons without compromising their abilities.
More Celebrations in Store
God of War Ragnarök was released in late 2022, and one update alone can’t encapsulate the franchise’s rich 20-year history. Alongside the Dark Odyssey update, Sony is rolling out a host of special activities and offers to honor the series. These include downloadable social media assets, an art showcase in collaboration with Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, new merchandise, sales, and vinyl releases celebrating the franchise’s evolution.
