Players Speculate on PvE Features
Marvel Rivals, the fresh entrant in the gaming arena, has sparked excitement among its player base regarding potential new features. Recently, rumors began circulating about a possible PvE (Player vs. Environment) boss fight, igniting speculation that a full-fledged PvE mode could be on the horizon. However, NetEase, the game’s developer, has clarified that there are no immediate plans for such a mode.
Insights from the DICE Summit
During the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, our team had the opportunity to speak with Weicong Wu, the producer of Marvel Rivals. When asked about any intentions for a PvE mode, he provided the following insight:
“For now, we don’t have any kind of a PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. If we discover a new mode that is entertaining and fun enough, we would certainly consider bringing it to our audience.”
Developer’s Vision for Future Gameplay
Following Wu’s comment, Danny Koo, executive producer at Marvel Games, posed a question regarding the community’s interest in a PvE mode. When asked if such a mode would appeal to players, Wu acknowledged the demand, stating, “Yes, we believe there are some in our audience that would appreciate a PvE mode. However, creating a hardcore PvE experience would offer a distinctly different gameplay experience from what we currently have.”
He further elaborated, “Our development team is actively experimenting with various approaches to achieve this goal, possibly considering a lighter version of the mode to determine what would resonate best with our player base.”
No Immediate Plans, but Ideas are Brewing
At this moment, it appears that while there are no definitive plans for a PvE mode, Wu indicated that NetEase is exploring ideas for a “lighter” mode, potentially akin to a special event or limited-time offering. However, specific details remain scarce as the developer continues to refine its vision.
