In a surprising announcement, Sega has revealed that it will be delisting a wide range of its beloved classic games from digital stores. The removals are scheduled to take place on December 6 at 11:59 PM PST / December 7 at 2:59 AM ET. This means that gamers will have a limited time left to grab these titles before they disappear.
The Games on the Chopping Block
Among the list of games set to vanish are fan-favorites such as Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Phantasy Star II. However, it’s important to note that those who have already purchased these games will still be able to access and play them. Additionally, some individual titles will remain available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, although Sega has not specified which ones.
New Entries to Classic Franchises
While fans may be disappointed about the delistings, Sega is not abandoning its classic franchises. In fact, the company has exciting plans in the works. Sega has confirmed that it is currently developing new entries for five of its iconic series: Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. Although details about these new games are scarce, Sega has hinted that the new Crazy Taxi will feature an open world with multiplayer elements. Furthermore, Sega has recently announced the development of a new Virtua Fighter game, creating even more anticipation among fans.
