Celebrating a Significant Milestone
In an exciting announcement, EA and Maxis are commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a delightful surprise for fans. As of today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are back on PC, accessible through two specially curated Legacy Collections, along with The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
Legacy Collections Available Now
EA has rolled out The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available for purchase separately or bundled together for just $40 in honor of this milestone. This is a fantastic opportunity for both seasoned players and newcomers to dive into the classic experiences that started it all.
What’s Included in the Collections?
Both collections feature an extensive array of expansions and almost all of the available stuff packs. However, it’s worth noting that The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. Despite this minor omission, the collections provide a comprehensive gaming experience. Additionally, players will enjoy bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit, enhancing the nostalgia factor.
A Long-Awaited Return
This re-release marks a significant moment, as it has been over a decade since players have had easy access to both games. Originally, The Sims 1 was only available on disc, making it almost impossible to play on modern systems without hunting down old physical copies. The Sims 2 had a brief revival in 2014 with an Ultimate Collection available through EA’s Origin store, but that has since been removed. Now, with these new collections, all four main Sims games are readily available for digital purchase, making it easier than ever to relive these classics.
Why You Should Play Them Again
Both games have received high praise in their original reviews, with The Sims 1 earning a remarkable 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 receiving an 8.5/10. While the series has evolved and introduced numerous features over the years, the original titles retain their charm through their quirky gameplay, simpler mechanics, and the unique challenges they present. They remain a must-try for any fan of simulation games.
Where to Get Your Hands on Them
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on popular platforms such as Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app. Don’t miss this opportunity to revisit or discover these iconic games!
